Professor Vasanthi Srinivasan did her Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from XLRI Jamshedpur and a Fellow in Management (Ph. D equivalent) from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. Before joining IIMB, Professor Vasanthi Srinivasan worked at Wipro Limited and a boutique consulting firm. She was the ICCR Chair Professor of Corporate Responsibility and Governance at the HHL School of Management, Leipzig, Germany, from 2012 to 2013. She was a British Council Visiting Scholar at the International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility at the Nottingham University Business School in 2007.
Her research projects include “Assessment and reporting on business and human rights reporting by corporate India” with National Human Rights Commission, “Generational Cohorts in the workplace” with Society for Human Resource Management; “Midcareer Men and Women in technology: Barriers to Advancement” with AnitaB.org; “Rethinking Business Responsibility in India” with CUTS International and “Building the women directorship pipeline in India” with support from National Stock Exchange.
She was a member of the Uday Kotak Committee on Corporate Governance set up by India’s Securities Exchange Board in 2017. She is an Executive Committee Member of the International Society of Business, Economics & Ethics (ISBEE). She is in the working group on Business and human rights constituted by India’s National Human Rights Commission. She was also on the drafting committee of the National Guidelines on Responsible Business Conduct and National Action plans. She was a subcommittee member of the Administrative Reforms Commission of Karnataka.
Her research interests are Women on Boards, Business and Human Rights, and HRM in rapid growth contexts. Her Massive Open Online Course titled “People Management” on the Edx platform was recognized among the top 100 courses by classcentral.com and the top ten HRM courses by digitaldefynd.com in 2021. She has been associated with the Indian Academy of Management since 2009 and was a past President. She also runs Tanmatra: Women in leadership program for senior women leaders. The program is in its seventh edition and has over 150 women alumni from leading Indian companies. She is a Distinguished Alumnae of XLRI Jamshedpur.
